How to Export/Import Local Group Policy
Let’s say you have a workgroup machine that has configured some local GPO settings. You want to re-install the OS or copy the same policies to another workgroup machine. So you need to export or save these policies so that they can be re-used.
Make sure you have unchecked the “Show hidden files and folders“
- Open %systemroot%\system32\grouppolicy\
- Within this folder, there are two folders – “machine” and “user”. Copy these to folders to the “%systemroot%\system32\grouppolicy” folder on the target machine. All it needs now is a reboot or a “gpupdate /force”.
